Shea Butter



Shea Butter is a fat that has slightly yellowish or ivory natural color, which is extracted from the seeds of African Shea tree by crushing and boiling. Shea Butter is widely used in cosmetics as a moisturizer and ointment. Shea Butter is edible and can be used in the manufacture of food, or sometimes in the chocolate industry as cocoa butter substitute.

English name "Shea" is derived from the name of the tree in Mali Bamana language. French name "karité" comes from ghariti, it means the same in the Wolof language of Senegal.
